This band is completely off the hook. Most of their music is doomishly slow, but blackend to the core, and underproduced in a way that makes it sound like it was performed in a deep, dark cave. Urfaust is quite prolific, having put out eight releases since 2004. They hail from The Netherlands, and are named after an unfinished work by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It’s at times depressing, at times rousing, but always engaging with a dutiful beat and a well thought out tone.
