I friggin’ love this band. The mere concept of troll metal is one of those things, like peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, or Star Trek 5, where it seems like such an obvious good idea, it’s hard to imagine nobody thought of it before. Finntroll takes the concept to a logical conclusion too, they really play out the troll atmosphere in a way that blends perfectly with metal overtones that take a cue from power, black, extreme, and doom metal all the same. Mostly it’s sort of folky though, but in a troll sort of way, like you can see how that’s probably the kind of music that trolls listen to. Except trolls aren’t real.
