I don’t even know how a band manages to become this rad. Gallhammer is a metal band from Tokyo that, at different points in listening to them, has had me think ‘Man, this sounds like if Sleater-Kinney tried to start a black metal band.’ and at other times has me think ‘This sounds like if a black metal band tried to play like Sleater-Kinney.’ but for the most part, it sounds nothing like any of that. Their sound is fierce without being overproduced or unrealistic. There’s an honest quality to it that is so rare in metal. I can’t stress enough how original, and incredible Gallhammer is.
