Maybe I ought to have posted about this earlier, but whatever. Last October I was treated to a free show at Mama Buzz in Oakland, CA, where, among other fine bands, Berkeley, CA’s The Buckwalds performed. They’re seriously one of the funnest live bands I’ve ever seen. I’m usually not that into the sort of bluegrass sort of folk thing that people are doing, but maybe that’s because usually when I see bands like that it’s some horrid folk punk band that thinks they’re the new Woodie Guthrie but haven’t stopped to wonder if anything they’ve ever done is worth listening to.
Anyway, The Buckwalds are a super lively, upbeat romp of musical presentation, that makes sure everyone who sees them, even if they show up a stranger, leaves as a friend. So dig it. Myspace.
