● Bad Banana reminds me of what I think The Thermals would sound like if they were an electroclash/power pop bedroom project, but they also sound like Cat Power, and about a million other bands. Maybe they just rip off riffs and I can’t tell or something. At any rate, not bad at all. Worth a listen.
● In case you haven’t seen any impressive rapping in a while, here’s a video of a pretty fast rap. Was it really necessary to note that the rapper was a ‘pale kid?’
● Did you know that ’77 punk icon Soo Catwoman has an official website? I would have never guessed, and here’s her top 5.
● Former Mötley Crüe drummer and consistent media slut Tommy Lee has petitioned SeaWorld to stop masturbating killer whales with the vaginas of dead cows. Not a very important cause, in my humble opinion. Also, technically, the plural of ‘vagina’ is ‘vaginae,’ but everybody says ‘vaginas’ because ‘vaginae’ sounds idiotic.
● Every time I listen to Punch, they become one of my favorite bands a little more.
● Converge is apparently going to record something. Yahoo! I’m looking forward to it. I have two of their albums, and while I haven’t listened to them enough to really familiarize myself with the band (too much music, too little time) I have been totally impressed every time I put either of them on.
● The Riot Before and Casey Jones are interviewed at the following link, as well as a band I haven’t heard of named Lemuria. I kind of met The Riot Before when they played in Chico, CA way back in the day and I don’t think they liked me very much even though I bought their CD. Casey Jones, on the other hand, is one of my favorite straight-edge bands of all time.
