Veteran’s Day Art Show

The musical accompaniment for the Veteran’s Day Art Show in Etna, CA went from 11 in the morning to 5 in the evening on 11/6/2010. I chose to sleep in and only made it to see the last two acts of the day. The show was relatively poorly attended, but otherwise went off without a hitch. The show was held at the Methodist Church, which has a nice recreation area that lends itself to such events. There were free cookies.

A duo who called themselves Joe & Bobbi played a rousing acoustic assortment of traditionals and gospel tunes. They kept things upbeat and chipper. I liked Bobbi’s sash. The duo kept an informal, friendly stage presence that made everyone feel invited and valued.

The Vagaries concluded the day with a sometimes a capella assortment of general traditional and folk music. The band had an excellent harmony and were able to inspire a variety of moods while finding excellent use of their guitar, keyboard, and fiddle roster. It was an impressive performance that bespoke a band with limitless potential.

I hate living here. Really, and it’s always nice that I can do something with music, even if it’s not something I’m especially interested in. The music was really nice, and it was all in all a fine event.
