MRR Free Box Review #18: Looking For An Answer – Split The Suffering Split The Pain

Photobucket

This is a collection of stuff that LFAA previously put out on splits and previously unreleased stuff. It’s a pretty wicked brutal style of music that sits somewhere between grind and death metal. Something that really moves me about it is the great hooks. That’s not something that grind/death metal bands usually have going for them, but LFAA is at times strongly riff-driven, and I love it. I have to admit, sometimes this record gets too slow for me. You know when there’s a quiet moment in an action movie where they have to sort of explain the plot and you’re just waiting anxiously saying, ‘COME ON! I RENTED THIS TO SEE SOME EFFING EXPLOSIONS!’ A similar anxiety comes over me during some of these songs, but overall, it’s a really fun little album, and it would be great as the soundtrack to ANY part of an action movie.
