Remember how I said I like short songs? Well I also like long songs— long doomy songs that make you feel like your lost in a dark abysmal sea, with the churning of a feeding frenzy slowly, slowly building until there are great heaves of chum and water all around you, tossing and turning over and over. That’s what this record is like, and I love it.
I wish I could go back in time and give a copy of this record and/or Pelican‘s s/t ep to myself when I was in high school, and say ‘Sir, this is heavy metal. Turn off the Slipknot. Turn off the Slaves on Dope. Listen to this. It will change your life.’
Still, I do not get discouraged even though I can’t go back in time, because at least I get to listen to this incredible, incredible album now, which is more than many people will ever get.
