Sometimes with these black metal bands, they’re imagery makes me want to say to them ‘Okay, we get it. You’re nazis. Guess what? You’re still not scary. Piss off.’ Considering that ‘Minenwerfer’ is German for ‘mortar’ and the band has a bunch of iron crosses all over their Myspace, I’m willing to bet the farm that they’re one of those black metal bands.
At any rate, they’re also really, really awesome at playing good music. Check it out.

Actually Chuck, Minenwerfer is based around World War I history, not the genocide. They repeatedly make a point that they don’t affiliate themselves with any neo-socialist groups or NWOSBM.
Also, I mixed/mastered that album from their home recordings
You know. All it does is takes 2 to 3 minutes to research a band on the internet these days to get correct information about them.
If you knew anything about history you’d know that the Iron Cross goes back hundreds of years.
Our lyrical content only spans the time frame of 1914-1918, and we have plans to record an album about 1870-1871. Neither of these have anything to do with World War II.
The flag you see in that picture is the war flag of Imperial Germany which is pre-1918. It has nothing to do with National Socialism. We enjoy the more interesting aspects of German history, and even if our songs were about Nazis it doesn’t mean we condone anything they did.
Do a little research next time.
Yeah. Sorry about that mate.
Well as a German I have to say the flag is totally connected to the 3rd Reich. It was the flag of the Wehrmacht during WW3 and its use is forbidden in Germany due its connections to the Holocaust (the Wehrmacht played its part there).
In Germany (or in general in Europe) this flag exactly connected to Hiltler and the Holocaust as the swastika.
Only Nazis and Racists use it over here…. to make it short.. its a fucking Nazi flag.
Sorry guys maybe you get back to history class for that
…. Iam in SacTown right now and maybe on your show in Frday…
The only reason the flag is connected to WWII, is because Germans banned any use of the swastika. So, unfortunately racist groups in Germany forget its original connotation and use in place of a Nazi flag that they cannot use.
It is NOT directly connect to Hitler, and was not a Wehrmacht flag at all (all you have to do is google “Wehrmacht flags” to figure this out) and it was not connected to WWII in anyway. It’s the racist neo-nazi scumbags that have tainted the meaning of it. It’s an Imperial Flag. The last time it was used in Germany was during the Kapp Putsch. When monarchists (i.e NOT NAZIS) tried to over throw the Weimar republic, which didn’t work. Other than that, it’s connection is to the Kaiserreich 1871-1918. If it was related to 1933-1945 in anyway I wouldn’t use it.
I’m a student of military history. I’m familiar with all this stuff. If I thought the flag had any true racist connections I wouldn’t use it. Simple as that.
But, since so many people are whining I suppose you win. I’ve decided to retire it as I’ve moved on to Austro-Hungarian History anyway. Hopefully they don’t get as butthurt over the use of their flags.
By the way, I have recently wrote a blog concerning this topic.
You can find it here: http://www.myspace.com/minenwerfer/blog/543101095
I really regret that all the controversy has been heaped upon your shoulders and I wish I could say I hadn’t contributed to it.
