MRR Free Box Review #1: Dead Sound – Monuments To Alienation

Photobucket

This isn’t pop punk. It’s similar to pop punk in a lot of ways, but I think it’s different enough so that the label pop punk wouldn’t fit for it. It has a driving, hopelessly sincere tone that reminds me of pop punk bands like Broadway Calls, but the sound is also more gritty, in a way that says ‘We don’t need to be pretty in order to sing our hearts out.’ As a physical medium, the CD is very cool. The artwork on the package is screen printed by hand, and the CD itself is black, like the CDs for Playstation. It’s not my favorite record of all time, but it’s unique, and kinda cool.
