Remember the Blonde Redhead album Misery Is a Butterfly? Honestly, I thought that album was incredible. All their other stuff though, I found it to be so-so. At any rate, Dark Dark Dark sounds like Blonde Redhead on Misery Is a Butterfly crossed with… something. I’m not sure what. They have a great haunting, swooning tone that has carried me off into parts unknown. I’m calmly drowning in a desolate ocean of cold sound, and I immediately know to stop struggling and just love it (I wonder if I ought to continue to go figurative when I talk about music.).
