The Cysts

Hell only knows what my musical selection would be like without James Squeaky. I’ve been turned on to at least 100 incredible bands by him. I first met Squeaky when he was playing drums for a band called Sex With Girls Is Rad. He’s done a number of noise projects that I’ve listened to since, and they’ve all been pretty wicked, but last summer I was able to see a punk band he started called The Cysts. Squeaky has always brought a vibrant, in-your-face performance to the world of noise rock, and it just so happens that this sort of performance charisma works very, very well for punk rock. The Cysts are a really great, really exciting band that is a little on the artsy side, but at the same time absolutely PFR. To the best of my knowledge, the closest they have to an official website is the entry Squeaky made about them on his blog. Give them a whirl if you haven’t seen an interesting punk band in a while. They’re the type of band that can sort of refresh the whole style of music for a listener.
