Kivimetsän Druidi

I read about music somewhat constantly, and since I started Ve it’s only gotten worse. Sometimes I read about bands that have album covers like this one:

And when that happens, I have to check them out, because any band ridiculous enough to have an album cover that screams ‘Boris Vallejo eat your heart out!’ is good enough for me.

As for Kivimetsän Druidi’s music, it pretty much screams ‘Boris Vallejo eat your heart out!’ They have a female and male vocalist, similar to Lacuna Coil, but musically they sing about stuff like dragons eating trolls instead of whatever Lacuna Coil sings about. Alternately, they sound perhaps like a more pretty Amon Amarth According to the band’s Encyclopaedia Metallum page, all the bands lyrical themes are related to a fantasy novel that guitarist/singer Joni Koskinen is writing. Oh, and the band sings in Finnish, so all comments on lyrical themes are pure speculation on my part.

Also, I want to give a shout out to my hommie Mark Lore over at The Days of Lore. I just got off the phone with him, in which he encouraged me to write about Kivimetsän Druidi, no matter how tacky the rest of the world might find them, because if I liked them, then someone else might, and that’s what music blogging is all about. Be sure to check out his blog if you have a chance. It kicks butt.
