King Uszniewicz and the Uszniewicztones

This really is something. There’s not a lot of information on King Uszniewicz and the Uszniewicztones that I’ve been able to find, and what I have been able to find hasn’t necessarily been reliable. This article claims that the band broke up in 1979, while this record review claims that they put out an album in 1989. At any rate, when it comes to technique, King Uszniewicz and the Uszniewicztones might be the worst band of all time. Tone deaf, off key, and sloppy, the music has an appeal that certainly doesn’t come from its being performed skillfully. From what I’ve gathered, some college DJ in the 1980′s found a record of King Uszniewicz’ and began playing it for the novelty value. Soon the band gained a cult following of record collectors with a good sense of humor. However, what I think I find most endearing about this band is that nobody seems to really know if this music was made intentionally bad as a joke, or if the band was legitimately trying. Andy Kaufman eat your heart out! It’s King Uszniewicz and the Uszniewicztones!
