Casual Sex – Casual Sex demo

Photobucket

Casual Sex was a smooth, soft jazz band that, was actually one of the first bands I saw in Chico, CA. The bassist, Joe Hardeman, was my resident adviser in the dorms, and an unbelievably cool dude. To be honest, I can’t tell you much about the band. I don’t recall them playing very many shows, and from what I remember, the band broke up because singer Gabriel Soriano had a falling out with other members. Being ninteen and clownish, during the one show of theirs I attended, I threw bras at Hardeman when he was on stage. It wasn’t as funny as I thought it was going to be, and thrift store bras are a lot more expensive then they should be.

I wonder what Joe wound up doing with all those bras.

Hardeman now plays bass for a skate punk band in Sanoma, CA called Decline of State. I don’t know a damn thing about any of the other members of Casual Sex and what they’re currently up to.

I digress. The album is great. The first song, Didn’t You has been stuck in my head for the past week or so, and it’s an all around solid, friendly piece of modern jazz.
